While I was researching reference material for a painting to illustrate John Gierach’s closing column in Fly Rod & Reel, I came across a collection of photographs from Dillon Wallace and Leonidas Hubbard’s ill-fated expedition in Labrador. The basis for the classic, “Lure of the Labrador Wild”.
One of the photographs, a grainy image of a lone man in a canoe poling his way to camp caught my eye, and I knew that I had to paint it.
This original oil on stretched canvas measures 22 x 18 inches. Framed.
