This painting is the third iteration of what I consider to be a perfect memory; two of my favorite men, Dave Norling and Tom Waters, fishing a northern river from my boat, near the end of the day.
I rarely render a painting that doesn’t include water in the composition, and I love to paint the reflective light of an evening sky in it. I’ve also had a long and deep fascination with the moon, and have been drawn to painting nocturnes that include a low, full moon rising. So, it seemed only natural for me to include all of these elements in this painting.
