… is something that doesn’t always happen right away. Sometimes a painting seems finished, but after living with it for a while, perhaps even years, the work begins to ask for changes.
Often it’s something minor; a… busy passage that needs simplification, a slight shift in the tonal range, or some element of the composition that needs to be brought forward.
Other times a painting asks for major revisions; whole backgrounds are changed, figures added or removed… and in doing so the feeling of the piece is significantly altered, and a new painting is born.
That’s what’s happened here…
